Both microwave and gamma rays are electromagnetic waves, which can travel through space and vacuum. In vacuum, both waves travel at 3.0 x 108 m/s.
Microwave and gamma rays differ in their frequencies and energies. Microwaves have low frequencies, between 300 MHz and 300 GHz. As a result, microwaves are low energy waves. In contrast, gamma rays have extremely high frequencies (higher than 3 x 1019 Hz) and as a result have extremely high energies.
