Calculate the pH of the following mixtures:
a) 1M acetic acid and 0.5M sodium acetate
b) 0.3M phosphoric acid and 0.8M KH2PO4 (pKa=2.14)

Answers

a) pH = pKa + Log ([SodiumAcetate]/[Acetic Acid]) = 4.76 + Log (0.5/1) = 4.46

b) pH = pKa + Log ([KH2PO4]/[phosphoric acid]) = 2.14 + Log (0.8/0.3) = 2.57
